Dr Alex Knopman is a Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist working in private practice and the public hospital system. He has 20 years of experience with neuropsychological assessment and cognitive rehabilitation in adults with a wide variety of disorders of cognition. These include those attributable to dementia, mental illness, brain injury, substance abuse and other general neurological, neurosurgical and medical conditions. Dr Knopman is also Senior Clinical Neuropsychologist at Uniting War Memorial Hospital and Adjunct Fellow at Macquarie University. Dr Knopman has previously held clinical neuropsychology positions at Westmead Hospital, Prince of Wales Hospital, KaRa Institute of Neurological Diseases and Royal Rehabilitation Centre Sydney – in the areas of neurology, neurosurgery, psychiatry, rehabilitation, geriatric medicine, drug and alcohol, and general medicine. Dr Knopman maintains a special interest in the assessment of Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) and Income Protection insurance claims (if related to cognitive decline), Fitness for Duty, and cognitive capacity (e.g., testamentary capacity, capacity to appoint or revoke a guardian/POA, capacity to manage finances). Dr Knopman is accredited with SIRA WorkCover and Motor Accidents.
